Meet Oscar and Other News

Oscar Wilde?  Oscar de la Hoya?  Oscar the Grouch?  So many options.  Might even change.  I have been calling him Snickelfritz.  Who knows, maybe it will stick.

Fun facts/discoveries:

1. He sometimes meows while he's drinking so it sounds all underwater-like and that just makes both David and I laugh.

2. Despite his sometimes incessant meowing/bawling, he might just be alright.  (he's no good at our stairs yet, or at least hasn't been brave enough so I can "trap" him on another level when it's too much.  He stops after awhile so it works out.)

3. So far he only uses the litter box!  Yeah!

4.  David's job is to change the litter box!  Yeah!

5.  He's not cuddly, he's frisky.  And that's fine with me too.  He's just a little guy so it makes sense.

6.  This may very well be the last full post on Oscar because I like to think I have more of a life than that, and right now I really do feel a little pathetic.  So if you're thinking it, so am I.  Sigh.

In other news:

David and I did the embryo transfer on Sunday!  Woo-hoo!  So we're moving forward like rock stars and hoping that all the needles, mood swings, trips to SLC, and partial loss of sanity work out for us.  Meanwhile we have lots of things to look forward to this Summer.  Like:

Air conditioning!!
New bathtub and toilet in main bathroom.
Completed window sills!
Def Leppard concert with friends!  Double woo-hoo there.
A stay at the cabin at Mt Kolob (Hurricane way)
Family Reunions (yes we actually look forward to some of them.)
Garden fresh produce from OUR garden!
Hiking in the outdoors
Plays at the Old Lyric Theatre
Bear Lake Shakes
Long Summer nights
Lunch/breakfast on the deck
Outdoor BBQ

Thank you all for tuning in today, and most of all thank you for your support.  We have felt your prayers and well wishes for us and no matter what happens, it will be what is supposed to happen.  Who knows, maybe twins!  (oooh, eeeee, aaaaah... ugh?  hmm.)

In Review

A list:

1.  My bread pudding is better than Aggy's bread pudding.

2.  Chocolate comes close to curing everything but doesn't quite make it all the time.

3.  I have been blessed to know some of the best women/friends EVER.

4.  I never thought I would laugh so hard when someone says "I have mono!"

5.  My entire front flower bed is a disguise for tree roots.

6.  I am glad that I have a husband with determination because I'm pretty sure he can wage a decent war on said tree root.

7.  I really really really want real patio furniture.

8.  I hate it when friends leave.  grrr.  double grrrr.

9.  I have finally decided to start cooking again and it feels pretty darn good!

10.  David is glad.

11.  It's one of the few things he's glad about lately because his wife is insane.

12.  I suppose you just have to take what you can get.

Love to you all.  Peace out!

Friday Random (Truly Random)

*  White women don't wrap.  (Okay, I'm just really bad at wrapping gifts)

*  I drove by a crosswalk and noticed a large truck coming my way with an orange cone stuck in the bumper and two crossing guards looking on in awe wondering if perhaps they should chase it down.

* Mother-love-n-patience!  Either a new swear word or a really good cake.

*  I was driving home from work the other day when the hokeyist rendition of Jingle Bells came on.  The two men in the truck in front of me started bobbing up and down in time with the song.  I wonder if he is using the same station we are using?

a conversation:
L:  Do you think it would bee too much if I had a picture of a waterfall in the bathroom that said 'Relax, everything will come out just fine'?

D: You are terrible!

L: I know, but do you think it would be too much?

*  I was driving home from work the other day and it was taking forever. I didn't mind though because the very large vehicle in front of me had a drop down screen for the kids.  I watched Happy Feet almost all the way to my house! For once I didn't mind if I hit the red light.

Anything happen weird happen to you this week?

Do you ever feel like this?

I feel like I have a lot to say right now.  Like it's been brimming out of me all day and I have had to remind myself that I am at work and can't do personal things right now.  Yet when I sit here at the computer and the appropriate time to put it all out there so to speak, I find myself... blank.  But I still have the desire to write.  So you get randomness because that's all that's left of my brain right now.  Random bits of a puzzle that was beautiful earlier today.  It would have made you cry.

Sigh.  Oh well.

1.  I am reading Dracula for book club and I can't read it before I go to bed because it makes me scared to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

2.  My Amy friend at work is on vacation now.  She left me chocolate frogs to help out when the Dementors attack.  She thinks of everything.

3.  I have several Amy friends in my life.

4.  At one point I had 4 that I worked with closely through church and work.  It got confusing.

5.  My photography teacher is kind of strange.  I suppose in a good way but it wigs me out just a bit.  that's right, wigs.

6.  Old school terminology is making a come back.  Rad.

7.  Maybe not.

8.  It might just take me a long ways into November before I take the Halloween decorations down.  Not because I like them that much, but because it takes too much effort to put them away.  I swear I just got them out.

9.  My cat's breath smells like catfood.

10.  I don't have a cat.

How was your day?

Reflections and Other stuff

Things of note that should be mentioned lest they be forgotten.

1. Thanks Tawyna and Isaac for having us over for New Years! What a hoot! and I loved the dip though my body did not. Totally worth it though.

2. I don't remember being this tired of Christmas this early before. When did I become Scrooge?

3. My Christmas slippers have stopped shedding on me. Happy.

4. Next year I want to start all over on Christmas decorations. Especially the tree. I want maroon ornaments and white crocheted snowflakes... I already have some but need more. Anyone know where I can get some. I suppose I could always learn to make them myself... hmm.

5. I'm kind of excited for normalcy and routine to take back the reins of my life. I seem to get much more accomplished that way.

6. I only made 3 cut out snowflakes this year. Seriously. Scrooge.

7. I still love the crunch of snow.

8. I wish I could finish painting around the light fixtures in our house.

9. I wish our fireplace was not just decorative but functional as well.

10. I love the Lord of the Rings movies. That pretty much makes me the coolest sister-in-law in David's family. It matters not that I'm the only sister-in-law.

Bah Humbug.

At Peace

I have had odd feelings of peace lately. I almost don't understand. When I think of everything that has been laid on my plate lately I feel that I should be having knots in my stomach and stress over how I'm possibly going to get all of this done. Normal Lora mode would be waking up at 3 am, not be able to go back to sleep because I'm worrying about everything and anything that can't be taken care of in the wee small hours of the morning. But I don't feel that way. I feel pretty darn good! All I can think is that the Lord must be sending blessings because I certainly can't be doing all of this on my own.

It feels good. I feel good. I'm excited about the coming week and all that is brings. It's extremely full but I'm actually looking forward to getting things done.

Sunday random

- I know that it could be so much hotter outside, but my house did NOT cool down last night! I'm baking! I can't tell you how badly I want to jump in the river to cool down!

- David and I went hiked to White Pine yesterday. Both legs are sore but only one really hurts... how weird is that.

- My favorite character in "LOST" so far is Sayid... I think it's his hair and intense eyes. Jack just bugs me. (we're on season 2)

- I have had scrapbooking stuff on my table for almost an entire month now...

- I have to write a portion of the primary program and I have no desire to even start. Bad me.

- David and I hid from our neighbors last night. Seriously. We didn't open the blinds or turn on any lights. It's not that we don't like them, we just didn't want anyone to know we were home.

- "Chickens in the Headlights" is seriously one of the funniest books I have ever read. I have teared up from laughing so hard many many times.

- Nursery kids love "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" a lot, but rarely can they do all the actions.

- Speaking of which, how many members of the elders quorum does it take to substitute for 3 good women in nursery? According to today's count, 8.

Sun Showers

I love rain! Okay, so I don't love it always, but there are just some times when it does my soul good. Like today. It rained with the sun shining brightly in the sky. Like little diamonds flashing with brilliance as they tumble to the ground.

There's just something so refreshing about a good rainstorm. Especially when there is thunder involved. Never in my life have I lived through thunderstorms of greater magnitude than I did when I was living in Missouri. The thunder would clap so loud it would jolt you right out of bed. Then the lightning would flash and it would penetrate even the darkest of curtains and light up the entire room. You just couldn't help looking out the window to see what was going on out there. It was awe inspiring.... and wet. Really really wet.

There is also nothing like getting caught un-prepared in a Missouri down pour. I swear an inch of water would be on the pavement by the time you ran from the car door to the front door. You learned fast to carry an umbrella even if it didn't look like rain. You just never knew.

.. and another thing.

1. One of the best things about my job is breakfast. There’s nothing like being met in the kitchen by piping hot French toast only the way that Jeff makes it… it’s heaven I tell ya!

2. Sometimes I play Christmas music when it snows in a semi-vain attempt that it will make be feel better about “the great white” that insists on staying around much longer that anyone has ever planned.

3. Never put hot beverages in bio-degradable “plastic” cups. They melt.

4. Thursday night TV is usually my favorite night, but I don't watch E.R. and that's all that's on. Blast! Except for Grey's Anatomy but I'm not caught up on that one.

5. Playing the piano is very cathartic, especially when you have a song that's supposed to be played loud.

the end.

Moving!

So, yeah... we're moving. Not too far away though, just a slightly better location and a lot better home. Not that I don't just love the little pink ivy wonder that is our home right now, I just can't say no to a garage and two bathrooms.

K, so here's the scoop. David and I weren't planning on looking for another place to live for quite awhile. We both hate to pack things up and resettle, reorganize, or readjust to a new place. I think it stems from the fact that both of us have a healthy lazy streak. However, things just fell into our laps.

Last Sunday, fate made us early for church. We were actually going to choir practice in the morning and it had been cancelled. Instead of spending an additional 45 minutes at home I opted to stay at the church while David went home. As it turned out I ran into an old friend and he asked if I knew anyone that needed a place to rent. He was moving to Las Vegas and was planning on renting out his house. I got the information and thought to myself... "huh."

Couple of days later I talked to David about just going and looking. We'll, we both loved it. New kitchen counters, actual closets to put clothes in, and two whole bathrooms. And best of all we will actually be paying $25.00 less than we are currently paying! Woo-hoo! I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am! Closets!! Actual closets!! I tell ya, it's the simple things in life that really get me. We'll be moving in two weeks so I'll post pictures of the new place soon... maybe. Depends on how long it takes to get everything moved over... including the internet.

Let's talk about snow.

So, in my last post I was clearly excited about the sun and it's presence. It was a breath of fresh air, a hint of Spring, the promise of warmth yet to come. Oh that Saturday could have stayed! But alas, I live in Utah, in Northern Utah, in the cold ice pit that is Cache Valley... it's snowing again.

Silver linings... we really do need the wetness. It's not sticking too badly. I love the way it coats the trees with it's puffy whiteness. Ummm... the slush squishes underneath my feet when I walk and sometimes on to people if I'm not too careful. I still get to wear scarves(love them). There's nothing like toast and hot chocolate to get you warm and cozy.
